How can I find out information about the CAMH exhibitions once I am at the Museum?

Exhibition handouts are available for each exhibition at the front desk. Handouts contain didactic information as well as information about upcoming programs and events held in conjunction with the exhibition.

Family Guides are designed for children of all ages, and provide opportunities for exploration, discovery, and conversation about the art on view. The guides are available for free at the Museum front desk. La Guia para Familias tambien está disponible en Español.

Our FAQteam (Frequently Asked Questions team) is available on Saturdays to answer questions about our exhibitions, about contemporary art in general, or to give quick on-the-spot tours. The FAQteam is a group of young artists and art historians who study each exhibition in order to discuss the work and answer questions for Museum visitors. No appointment is necessary.

Is all the art family-friendly at CAMH?

Because contemporary art often deals with powerful issues, adults may wish to view the art with or in advance of younger viewers. For a Family Review of the current exhibitions, click here.

Are there special arrangements that must be made in advance for groups?

Does CAMH rent its facilities for events?

We are pleased to host select private events as a special benefit to corporate donors and patrons of the Museum at the $5,000 level and above. This unique opportunity is dependent on the Museum’s obligation to its audiences, public programs, and exhibition schedule. Due to the fragile nature and/or security of the work or the lender’s stipulations (lenders often place restrictions limiting food and drink around the works), some exhibitions simply may not be able to accommodate an event. Each event opportunity is considered on a case-by-case basis and event date availability is based on CAMH’s exhibition schedule. Room rental, catering, and facility security/staffing fees are additional. Click here to download additional information.

What is the history of CAMH?

The Contemporary Arts Museum Houston is a non-collecting institution dedicated to presenting the best and most exciting in international, national and regional art. Through dynamic exhibitions accompanied by scholarly publications and accessible educational programs, the Museum reaches out to local, regional, national and international audiences of all ages. To find out more, click here.
