Art Submission Policy and Guidelines
The Contemporary Arts Museum Houston is one of the oldest non-collecting museums in the United States, and is dedicated to presenting innovative exhibitions by the finest international, national, and regional artists. The Museum’s exhibition programming is determined solely by the curatorial staff and not by unsolicited submissions.
CAMH welcomes submissions from artists for review, but asks that prior to submitting your work you consider our mission and programming in order to determine whether your submission is appropriate to our Museum. The best means to determine the appropriateness of your submission would be to visit the Museum and tour our changing exhibitions. If this is not possible, please explore our website and browse our current and past exhibitions.
Guidelines
You may submit artwork in the form of photographs, on CD or DVD, as jpg files, or a URL address where we can view the work online. Please label your images with your name, title of the work, date created, media, and dimensions. We cannot accept actual works of art.
Include a cover letter about the images you are submitting for review as well as a brief description of the project.
Send material to:
Shane L. Platt
Contemporary Arts Museum Houston
5216 Montrose Boulevard
Houston, Texas 77006
splatt@camh.org
Include a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) if you would like your materials returned.
Materials submitted without a self-addressed stamped envelope will not be returned.
The Contemporary Arts Museum Houston cannot be held responsible for submitted material.
Please Note
The process of reviewing images is performed on a quarterly basis and may take up to several months. Please do not submit any material that you will need returned immediately. It may not be possible to reply to every submission.
While we are happy to review your work, doing so will not constitute a promise to exhibit your work. The Museum’s exhibition schedule is planned approximately two to three years in advance and is carefully balanced to present our viewers with a varied artistic program. Therefore, we are rarely able to accommodate unsolicited submissions for exhibitions.
The Contemporary Arts Museum Houston is a non-collecting institution. We do not review works for acquisition purposes. In addition, we cannot perform appraisals or authentications of any works of art.
We cannot make studio visits, see the work in person, or engage artists to discuss their work in our offices during the initial phase of the review. If there is sufficient interest from a curator, we will contact you about any further steps.
